View From the Top: The Austin Attraction

Last night I was supposed to attend the Affiliate Summit Meetup in Denver but was unable to do so. We have a thriving community of affiliate marketers and online marketers in Colorado. I’m proud to be part of such a diverse and active group.

The speaker last night was super-affiliate and consultant, Jeremy Palmer. Jeremy’s been in the affiliate space for a long time. He’s based in Utah, but does some consulting in the Denver area so he was able to arrange his schedule to make the meetup.

View From the Top: My Coupon Panel at Affiliate Summit Central

You know how I love to talk about coupons and deals.  So, I am very excited to be speaking on a panel about that very topic at Affiliate Summit Central 2012, which takes place in Austin May 15-16.

The panel is titled “Deals and Coupons and Vouchers – Oh My!”, and will focus on how it can easily become overwhelming when looking at all the various types of offers. The panel, which also includes Steve Schaffer, Founder and CEO, Vertive.com and Robert Gilbreath, Director – Ecommerce Marketing and Analytics, Calendars.com, is aimed at merchants/advertisers at an intermediate level and will discuss the differences between these types of offers and how to evaluate each one for the best performance.

Imagine if your business is very well-known within its respective vertical industry but not with consumers.

This is often the case with business-to-business (B2B) companies. These companies are well recognized and respected in their space, however, many of these companies are also looking for additional brand recognition that will increase their revenue or perhaps extend their reach into other verticals or even help them break into the consumer space.

Many people that deal with customers have the mentality that the customer is always right. I don’t. Don’t get me wrong as a customer myself I expect quality service and as the owner of an OPM agency I believe in delivering the highest value and service to my clients, but that doesn’t mean they are always right.

I think it’s ok to have spirited, healthy disagreements with my customers. I don’t shy away from these discussions. These debates often lead to better solutions that end up as a win-win for both parties.
